BOONEVILLE – Two men are facing kidnapping charges for separate events in Prentiss County earlier this month.
Prentiss County Sheriff Randy Tolar said his department got a call from a concerned family member on Sept. 7 and went to the house to check on the woman. When deputies arrived, they discovered the woman was being held against her will in a bedroom. Randy Kelly, 28, had nailed the bedroom door shut with the two of them inside. She told deputies he threatened her with the hammer and she was in fear for her life.
Kelly was charged with kidnapping and bond was set at $25,000. He remains in custody.
The same day, deputies arrested Mike Brian Rutledge, 21, of Booneville, and charged him with rape and kidnapping. The alleged incident happened Aug. 26 in the County Road 5014 Booneville area. The victim said she was tied up and raped before being eventually freed.
Bond for Rutledge was set at $25,000. He remains in custody.
