IUKA – Officers responding to a burglary in progress arrested a man on felony drug charges.
Around 5 a.m. Monday, a North Street resident in Tishomingo called 911 and reported someone had just broken into their house. The residents of the house held the suspect until Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived.
During a pat-down for weapons, officers discovered alleged methamphetamine in the pants pocket of Michael Anthony Isbell, 38, of Highway 25, Tishomingo. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance and burglary of a dwelling. Isbell also has several misdemeanor arrest warrants from the towns of Belmont and Golden. His felony bond was set by justice court at $35,000, and he remains in the Tishomingo County Jail.
Earlier this month, deputies were dispatched to County Road 247 about a man taking things from a shop and placing them in his white pickup. Deputies found John Anthony Lovelace at the scene and discovered he did not have the owner’s permission to remove any items.
Lovelace, 36, of Highway 365 South, Burnsville, was charged with burglary of a commercial building and grand larceny. His bond was set at $10,000, and he also remains in the county jail.
