IUKA – The Mississippi Highway Patrol is still investigating a fatal one-car crash that happened Valentine’s Day in Tishomingo County.
According to Master Sgt. Ray Hall, troopers responded to Highway 25 north of Iuka, near County Road 279, around 3 a.m. Sunday.
The initial investigation showed Kristy D. Deaton, 37, of Tishomingo, was traveling southbound in a 2012 Nissan Sentra, when she apparently ran off the road and collided with a tree.
Deaton received moderate injuries in the crash and was transported to a local hospital.
A passenger in the vehicle, Chasity Brown, 43, of Tishomingo, received fatal injures from the crash. She died on the scene.
