BOONEVILLE – A Prentiss County man was sentenced to 15 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of manslaughter Thursday.
Nathaniel Marc Tyra, 20, was convicted of intentionally hitting Justin Shaw with a vehicle in Baldwyn on July 5, 2014. The two men had an altercation earlier that night. Shaw died from his injuries 12 days later.
“The jury reached a just verdict, and I’m happy the victim’s family can get some closure to what has to be a difficult time for them,” said interim District Attorney John Weddle said after the three-day jury trial.
The Prentiss County Circuit Court jury, composed of eight men and four women, deliberated for just over an hour before reaching a guilty verdict.
