TUPELO – Tupelo Police Chief Bart Aguirre says that while there is no new information in the crash that left one man dead and two in serious condition, the investigation is ongoing and he is awaiting test results.
According to officials, James Anthony Holder was driving a Jeep Cherokee on Friday night when he struck a pedestrian, Gary Gilmore, who died on the scene. Holder then drove into a Ford F150 driven by Nicholas Courtney.
Both Holder and Courtney are listed in serious condition at North Mississippi Medical Center, with Holder in a medically induced coma.
Tupelo law enforcement members obtained a warrant to collect Holder’s blood to see if he was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the collision. Aguirre says he is waiting for those results to come in.
