TUPELO – A traffic stop in the Skyline community on Tuesday led to drug charges for a Mooreville man.
Richard Ellis Jr., 26, was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine. During his initial appearance, Justice Court Judge Chuck Hopkins set bond at $50,000. At the time of his arrest, Ellis was free on a $15,000 bond for similar charges back in November.
Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson said his office had received numerous complaints about possible drug activity on the east side of the county. Increased patrols led to a traffic stop of Ellis.
A search of the vehicle revealed not only a felony amount of crystal meth, but also digital scales and drug paraphernalia.
