CORINTH – Corinth Police are seeking a suspect accused of shooting two people on Mitchell Street.
Police are seeking Jamar Allen, 30, for allegedly shooting Charity Payne, 28, and Larry Hope, 28, early Monday morning.
Allen also has warrants out for his arrest for aggravated assault and kidnapping in a separate incident from Dec. 21, said Corinth Police Capt. Dell Green.
The shooting incident occurred after Allen and the male victim got into an altercation. Police received the call about the shooting at around 2:30 a.m. Monday.
After the altercation, Allen allegedly left the scene and returned to 1219 Mitchell St. with a firearm.
Allen allegedly fired the gun numerous times from the outside of the residence, striking the two victims inside.
Payne was flown to the hospital in Tupelo and released back to Magnolia Regional Health Center. Hope, of Byhalia, was flown to the hospital in Memphis and recently released.
The shooting occurred at Payne’s residence. Hope and Payne are apparently in a relationship. A 4-year-old girl was also present but unharmed, Green said.
Allen fled the scene after the shooting and is currently at large.
Allen is also suspected on being involved in a Dec. 21 kidnapping incident in which a person was physically assaulted, held against his will and threatened to be killed. That alleged incident occurred on Penn Street and lasted about five hours before the victim managed to escape.
Another suspect in that case, Terence Alexander, 28, was arrested on Jan. 31 and charged with kidnapping and aggravated assault.
Allen is from Wisconsin but has been in Corinth for the past year.
