An unborn child was killed when a pregnant woman was involved in a wreck Monday in Alcorn County, one of two wrecks to happen around the same time and in the same area.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the separate wrecks around 6 p.m. on U.S. Highway 45, between the 45 Truck Stop and King Kars.

In the first crash, MHP said it appeared Stanley Bramer, 29, of Eureka, Missouri, pulled out of the truck stop in his tractor-trailer and attempted to cross Highway 45. He failed to yield the right of way and pulled into the path of a southbound Jeep Liberty driven by Briana Bryan, 19, of Walnut.

The Jeep collided with the truck. Bryan was taken by ambulance to Magnolia Regional Hospital with critical injuries, and was later transferred to Region One in Memphis. Bramer was not injured.

Bryan was approximately eight months pregnant, and she lost her baby, according to an MHP spokesman.

The second crash, which occurred at approximately the same time about a half-mile north of the truck stop, involved three vehicles.

MHP said it appeared Jason Gray, 39, of Corinth, was traveling west on County Road 405 in a Hyundai XGX and apparently ran a stop sign and collided with a northbound Chevrolet Cobalt driven by John Johnson, 24, of Corinth.

After the collision, Gray continued to cross Highway 45 and collided into a southbound Ford Explorer driven by Benjamin McCoy, 45, of Corinth. Gray left the scene traveling south on Highway 45 before crashing his vehicle on County Road 511.

Gray was arrested and charged with two counts of leaving the scene of an accident, DUI, and several other traffic violations. He remains in the Alcorn County Jail.

No one was injured in these crashes.
