TUPELO – Tupelo police officials are still waiting to learn the severity of damages from a water leak.
The department hoped to move in the building the first week of November but that has been delayed.
During a pressure check of the fire sprinkler system at the new $10 million building Tuesday morning, a second floor sprinkler head went off. The leak was caught before it spread but did damage one second floor suite. The water then flowed into the suite below it.
A commercial water cleanup and restoration company was immediately called to the scene. There were still ServPro trucks parked behind the Front Street building Friday.
“We have no time frame to offer at this point,” said TPD spokesman Capt. Chuck McDougald.
