SHANNON – A south Lee County man was killed Friday morning when he was struck by a vehicle while walking along Highway 145 near the Brewer Road exit.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to the scene between Shannon and Verona around 7:15 a.m. and found the victim. The man had no identification on him at the time. It took until early afternoon for officials to positively identify Bobby Lee Washington, 49.
“He was pronounced dead at 7:26 a.m. from blunt force trauma after being struck by a vehicle,” said Lee County Coroner Carolyn Green.
The accident remains under investigation.
