The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office apprehended an Okolona man Monday after he led law enforcement on a high-speed chase through parts of the county hours earlier, and authorities are searching for the whereabouts of another suspect.

According to the MCSO, Darquazion Morrow, 18, of Okolona, has been charged with grand larceny after allegedly taking a 2003 Chevrolet Impala belonging to an Amory resident. The vehicle has been recovered.

According to Amory Police Department Investigator Andy Long, the MCSO made a traffic stop at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Highway 278 just east of Hatley.

The suspects bailed out of the vehicle and fled on foot, and a deputy had to get in the car and stop it. Law enforcement received a call of suspicious people in a yard shortly thereafter.

Long said the APD soon received a BOLO call for a white Chevrolet Impala. APD officers were unsuccessful in initiating a traffic stop, and the car continued west on Highway 278 and onto Camargo Road, where the suspects abandoned the vehicle at a residence there.

The MCSO is looking for Devonte Randle, an black male, in connection with the taking of the Impala and also a 1998 blue Chevrolet truck belonging to a Nettleton resident.

Anyone with information or the whereabouts of Randle is urged to contact the MCSO at 369-2468.
