IUKA – Two people were injured in a Tuesday morning altercation.
At approximately 7 a.m., the Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Department responded to a scene at 126 County Road 150, where three people had been involved in an altercation.
A man was stabbed in the stomach, and he then proceeded to fire a 9mm pistol that was in his hand. He fired the weapon toward the ground, and shrapnel struck the knife-wielding suspect.
A third person was detained and taken to the Tishomingo County Jail. The subject who was struck with shrapnel was transported to North Mississippi Medical Center-Iuka.
The stabbing victim’s injuries were not life-threatening, but he did have to receive medical attention for his wound.
All weapons involved in the altercation were found and collected for evidence.
