VERONA – It took less than a week for the Verona Police Department to arrest the main suspect in an Oct. 12 armed robbery.
Verona Police Chief Andy Anderson said the Super C Tobacco Store at 5030 Raymond Ave. was robbed, and the suspect, Willie Sykes, 46, of Tupelo, was charged Friday with armed robbery. During his arraignment Friday in Lee County Justice Court, bond was set at $100,000.
The case will be presented to the next grand jury. Anderson said residents’ calls and tips helped with the arrest.
