The Alcorn County Sheriff’s Office discovered a deceased male with multiple gunshot wounds just after midnight Thursday after a motorist reported seeing a possible body, the sheriff said.
At about 12:15 a.m., a motorist contacted 911 in regards to seeing a possible body on the side of County Road 418 about one mile south of the intersection with County Road 419, Sheriff Ben Caldwell said. The location is south of the city of Corinth and east of Highway 45.
Sheriff’s deputies responded and discovered an unknown deceased male with multiple gunshot wounds.
The sheriff’s office began an investigation, and the Alcorn County Coroner’s Office also responded.
The body will be taken to Jackson for an autopsy, the sheriff added.
Coroner Jay Jones could not release information Thursday morning.
