A car chase that began in Tishomingo County ended in Alabama with one man arrested.

Jyrome Thigpen, 34, of Killen, Alabama, has been charged with felony fleeing and possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

The chase began Monday when a Tishomingo Sheriff’s Department deputy attempted to stop a vehicle on Highway 30. The driver then began driving recklessly and refused to stop after the deputy turned on blue lights.

The pursuit continued onto the Natchez Trace Parkway, heading northwest toward the Alabama state line. Alabama authorities laid “spike strips” on the roadway in an attempt to end the pursuit. After the suspect’s vehicle hit the strips, he continued driving before finally coming to a step around Cherokee, Alabama.

After Thigpen was detained, officers discovered he had two active felony warrants out of Lauderdale County, Alabama. A search of his vehicle allegedly turned up marijuana and meth.

Thigpen was taken to the Lauderdale County Jail, where a hold was placed on him for the Tishomingo Sheriff’s Department.
