JACKSON – The former Deputy City Clerk of the Town of Blue Mountain was arrested and charged with embezzlement.
Machelle Holliday was also served with a demand totaling $5,669.21 from State Auditor Stacey Pickering.
Pickering said the evidence developed in this investigation shows that Holliday embezzled funds from the town of Blue Mountain from February 2015 through August 2015. On three separate instances she did not deposit funds she collected from private individuals as court-ordered fines/assessments.
“The evidence indicates that Ms. Holliday stole from the taxpayers of Blue Mountain,” Pickering said. “I am confident that she will be held accountable for her actions.”
Holliday served as Deputy Clerk from October 2012 until she resigned in September 2015.
