TUPELO – Foul play is not suspected in the death of a trucker who was found Monday morning.
The man, whose name has not been released, was discovered by a fellow trucker around 9 a.m. at the Love’s Travel Center at the intersection of McCullough Boulevard and Interstate 22.
“The trucking company had not heard from him and pinged the truck,” said Tupelo Police Chief Bart Aguirre. “They discovered it was in Tupelo and contacted us to do a welfare check.
“We got there and another trucker found him slumped over the steering wheel. We think it’s going to be ruled natural causes.”
Lee County Coroner Carolyn Green is still trying to contact the man’s family and had not released any information on the man.
