OXFORD – Oxford Police have charged a man with a strong-arm robbery near the Square last month.
The female victim said she was walking home from the square on Aug. 16 when she was shoved down by a man, who took her purse. Witnesses gave police descriptions of the suspect and his vehicle, as well as the tag number.
Officers tracked down Anthony Peavy, 22, of Batesville. He was picked out of a lineup by the victim and witnesses. He was charged Sept. 9 with robbery.
During his arraignment, bond was set at $5,000.
